HBC attend Ironbridge Regatta in droves!
Ironbridge Regatta has become almost an annual Club vacation over recent years. It never ceases to amaze how committed so many of the club members are! A great deal of work is involved in getting the sheer number of people and equipment to the regatta, not to mention catering for them. The Parents and supporters are invaluable and help ensure this is always a good weekend. This year was no different with more rowers and supporters than ever.
The club had representation in events from a broad range of ages with Alex and Kornelia bravely heading off in single sculls at the tender age of 12 through to the Mens Masters four.
All represented the club extremely well with many close races in particular in the shorter 450m sprint racing on Sunday. The Masters; Iain Rickerby, Andy Wood, Mark Smith and Edward Adams set the example on Saturday winning their Masters C 4+ coxed by Alice Ray. Sunday saw successes for the masters again with Iain and Andy winning the Masters C 2x while Joseph Hardman and Mark Smith won the IM3 2x category.
Our youngsters achieved success with Isabel Searle winning the J15 1x and Louise Hinkley and Evie Andrew having to come through 2 heats and a semi to win the final of the Novice 2x category. The weather wasn’t entirely kind and with rain all afternoon on Sunday there were a great number of dedicated supporters and rowers who were completely soaked through when they saw Evie and Lou achieve their win in the penultimate race of the regatta. The club are extremely proud of our athletes and very thankful to our amazing supporters. Here's looking forward to next year.
