Ely & Boston Rowing Marathons

HBC Mens 4x- find success at two long distance events.

The Ouse Marathon. Ely

Two crews entered the East of England marathon on 7th September. The course runs from Denver sluice near Downham Market to Ely; a total of 22k on the Great Ouse. Edward Adams single sculled the course in a creditable time of 1 hour 46 minutes, only three minutes slower than the current elite sculls course record.

A quad scull of Mark Smith, Tom Doig, Iain Rickerby and Jon Deacon wound themselves up and launched down the river to beat the overall course record (set by Huntingdon last year!) in a time under 1 hour 27 minutes. This set them up well for their entry in the Boston marathon later in the month.

Boston Rowing Marathon

21st September – 31 miles. 173 Crews overall, Huntingdon Mens IM1 Quad came second overall, winning their Category by 11 seconds, with a time of 3h 34m 50s. It was a tight competitive race down the entire course!
